Why Buhari is switching from Campaign Organisation to Council

...and Rotimi Amaechi may no longer be in charge

In what may well turn out a really smart move, President Muhammadu Buhari is about to enlarge his 2019 presidential campaign base and structure. He will soon bring all speculations to an end by naming a Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) ostensibly to lead himself and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to victory in the February 2019 general elections.

This announcement was made Thursday by Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, Obviously, the Hon. Rotimi Amaechi-led Buhari Campaign Organisation, BCO, is no longer directly in charge. New players are joining the home run.

Hamiltonstyle can now tell you authoritatively that while Amaechi’s BCO may yet be looking for campaign money, Buhari has found more proactive supporters who are willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Buhari says he is aware of the yearning by Nigerians for the formation of a full Presidential Campaign Council towards the APC’s victory in the presidential elections. He adds that he appreciates the growing interest that Nigerians have shown in this issue, and he is conscious of their keen expectation.

However, Buhari implores members of the party and the public to exercise some patience regarding the constitution of the PCC.

For now, the President and the party executives are focused on the APC convention scheduled for Saturday, October 6. The Presidential Campaign Council will be put in place after the convention.

“We are the party that will free Nigeria from corruption and poor governance. We are the party of change. We will not let the country down,” says Buhari.
