HAMILTONSTYLE inhouse doctor, Tosin Ogunsanwo, was among 63 young doctors who bagged their MBBS and 20 dental surgeons who bagged BDS yesterday June 4 as they took their Hippocratic Oath at the 2014 Medical and Dental induction ceremony of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
It was a joy-filled occasion for all guardians and parents whose wards and children graduated, especially this year that saw much less than 50% of those who sat for the final exams and clinicals qualify as doctors.
What makes our very own Dr. Oluwatosin Ogunsanwo even more significant is how she lived all of her six-and-half years on the College campus all for God. She made serious sacrifices of time, energy and finances to win souls for Jesus Christ as well as follow up on these souls for God.
“I just give all the glory to God and also for giving me prayerful and understanding parents. At first I was scared because everyone told me I could not mix my Christianity with medicine otherwise I would fail. Even my classmates worried so much for me. Tosin, we hope you know what you are doing. This is Idi-Araba o” Tosin told HAMILTONSTYLE.
“Yet God’s pull on me was strong and I had to yield. In a lot of ways, being a medical doctor and winning and nurturing souls for God are quite similar, except that one ministers to the body and the other to the spirit. I would go on rural-rugged outreaches to villages to preach Christ to lost souls, while my classmates swotted.
“But I would always sacrifice my bedtime; give up my sleep, consult with my classmates in order to catch up on lost academics. Yet in all of this, all the glory of my graduation – no resits, no carry over – belong to God.
Probably the youngest and prettiest of CMUL graduate doctors this year, Dr. Tosin Ogunsanwo has her eyes fixed on being an eye doctor, perhaps taking after her mom, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Ogunsanwo who is an ophthalmic nurse at the General Hospital, Lagos Island.
