MY NIGERIA, OURS TO BUILD
Nigeria my fatherland where stars shine
A fertile land on which the sun rises
Yet our national life still lacks light.
Every day is a constant battle
For terrorists kill and shake their rattle;
Our forces kill too, but only precious time.
We are no longer safe in our homes
And families now flee overseas
It’s unfortunate; national insecurity.
Nigeria my fatherland
The place of honey and milk
Plus more cotton and silk;
Yet our lives are on the brink
As many search for employment
And others for encouragement.
So where are today’s new leaders
Who dare to do better than the old?
Truth be told, they must be bold.
They can’t say we lack the facilities
To solve our economic instabilities;
Truth be told, we have the capabilities.
And so I hope for that Nigeria,
Our fatherland of peace
Where we’ll all be at ease.
