Peak Milk Feeds Nigeria, 60 Years On – Rahul Colaco

“We feed Nigeria. For 60 years, Peak milk has been nourishing Nigerians with quality dairy nutrients. We are proud of this and indeed happy to see all of you joining us tonight to look at our rich history as well as celebrate Peak milk today. When we look at Nigeria today, despite the challenges, we say the future is bright, reach for your Peak.”

Those were the words of Rahul Colaco, suave Managing Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria as the company celebrated the 60th anniversary of Peak milk in Nigeria. It was beautiful and colourful evening of family fun, dinner, music, dance and theatrics.

Parents came in with their excited children; some of them business partners of the milk brand. Media writers, bloggers and photojournalists were all treated to a sumptuous celebration of milk goodness. The red carpet reception was blue – thinking out of the box. A map of Nigeria constructed with full tins of Peak milk (47 cartons of it) welcomed guests to the Zinnia Hall walkway at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, venue of the 60th anniversary – a graphic tieback to Colaco’s joyful statement, “We feed Nigeria”

Milkshakes of different colours and flavours with the chill of crushed ice were served round as guests arrived and surveyed the walled moments of history – framed photos of Nigerians who reached their peak, and sneak previews of what can be – aeroplanes, jazz drums, trucks, boat and even milking cows all crafted with empty tins of Peak Milk.

A sumptuous dinner buffet preceded the climax – an artistic presentation of Peak’s history – its condensed, evaporated and powdered offerings through the decades up till its new easy to open tin design.

“And Nigerians can expect more innovations as we reach for the Peak together” said Tarang Gupta, Marketing Director of the company.

A versatile contemporary dance crew, screen diva of Tinsel fame, Iretiola Doyle, comedian Gordons and star Looking-for-my-Johnny singer Yemi Alade (herself a success discovery of the first ever Peak Talent Show) all made the evening well worth all of the four hours it took.

Mrs Ajoke Okusanya who became a wholesale dealer decades ago “when a carton of Peak milk cost only N2.50 kobo or so” testified of her strategic growth into becoming a wealthy Wamco business partner.

In the words of Colaco, she reached for her Peak.
