FrieslandCampina WAMCO laments Kano students’ deaths, says we didn’t sponsor quiz contest

Dairy giant FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC has lamented the deaths of seven Kano students reported to have occurred in a motor accident on Tuesday May 3 in Oyo State, but the company has denied reports of its involvement as sponsors of a national quiz competition the students had attended.

The Corporate Affairs Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Mrs. Ore Famurewa in a media statement just released, said: “We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the seven students who lost their lives in the accident.

“However, we find very discomfiting errors published by some online news sites and a national television station mentioning our company with regards to the sad event. We hereby state categorically that FrieslandCampina WAMCO was not in any way connected to the event nor did any of our staff die in the crash.

“We didn’t sponsor the national quiz competition that the students had attended nor did we sponsor any quiz competition at this time. We sincerely pray for the comfort of the bereaved families and the government of Kano State.
