Veteran star actors Olu and Joke Jacobs hit the cover of TW (Today’s Woman) magazine this month to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary while she shared the secrets of how they made things work for 30 years, including how they coped with the loss of their child plus more.
Joke Silva and Olu Jacobs are known for a lot of things including their acting skills and their enviable marriage that has stood the test of time. Of course they have had their fair share of quarrels and have indeed taken short breaks away from each other, if Nollywood rumours are even a teeny-weeny bit correct. But nothing was powerful enough to make them divorce each other.
For their 30th wedding anniversary, these stage and Nollywood stars finally got the white wedding ‘they never had’ as they strike a wedding pose on the cover of TW in wedding whites – like they never did it; two old chirpy virgin birds in love. Lol.
On how many dates they have shared and which is her most romantic, Joke says – in the nine-page love and reality tale – “It’s been a long time and a couple hundred dates (that) I don’t really remember which was our most romantic because Olu has given me so many.
“But I remember when I first met him… I wasn’t interested (at first), but he was persistent.” And 30 years thereafter, they are both celebrating virtues that spring from the persistence of love (not the love of persistence).
Congratulations to the enviable couple as their love inspires us all. Compare pictures of the acting Jacobs (pun intended) five years ago at their silver jubilee and now in wedding whites.
At HAMILTONSTYLE, we also send our condolences to Mrs Joke Jacobs (Joke Silva) for the loss of her mother whose soul, we pray, shall rest in peace.
